Alex Ovechkin hit yet another milestone Friday night—the Washington Capitals captain scored his 742nd career NHL goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets, which moved him past Brett Hull for sole possession of fourth place on the NHL’s all-time goals list. The Capitals released a video from Brett Hull during first intermission, congratulating Ovechkin on his historic goal.

“Alex, congratulations on moving into number four on the all-time goal-scoring list,” Hull said. He mentioned that Wayne Gretzky has a saying— you have to earn your nickname.

“Well Alex, the Great Eight, you have lived up to your nickname and more. Congratulations again. Keep climbing that ladder and I wish you nothing but success. Way to go!”

Ovechkin now has 12 goals and 10 assists in 13 games so far this season. He is now 24 goals behind Jaromir Jagr (766) for third all-time and is only behind Jagr, Gordie Howe (801), and Wayne Gretzky (894) in goals scored for his NHL career.
