Son Of Brett Hull Tweets Disapproval Of Alex Ovechkin Tying Father In Career Goals, Then Receives The Wrath Of Russia

The son of Brett Hull took to Twitter Monday night to show his disapproval of Alex  Ovechkin’s 741st career NHL goal – the goal that tied his father for fourth on the NHL’s all-time goals list. Jude Hull, 27, gave three thumbs down to a video of Ovechkin’s milestone tying tally.

As expected, it didn’t take long for Jude to begin feeling the wrath of Ovechkin fans world wide, including those fans in Ovechkin’s home country of Russia. (Hull’s Tweet was very “popular” in the Russian sports media on Tuesday. Here, here and here).

Hull replied to his original tweet following numerous replies, many of them in Russian or with Russian origins.

But not all of the disproving replies were from Russia. Many of the replies were from hockey fans from around the globe.

While both his father and grandfather, Bobby “the Golden Jet” Hull, are in the Hockey Hall of Fame, Jude’s hockey career came to a close in 2018 following four years as a goaltender for St. Olaf College.

What has he ever done other than be born into a great hockey family? Maybe the young man should leacr some class and realize that records are madeto be broken. Ifrecords were not kept than no one would care about his dad at all! Just like no one cares what the crybaby thinks or does. Truly a shame that the young man does not understand what it takes to break the scoring records that Ovie has broken. Maybe if he were a betterplayer he would have done something other than be just a collegegoalie!

  5. Dave says:

I think it’s pretty damn funny, myself. Good on Jude for sticking up for his dad. I think people need to have a sense of humor about this. I’d love to see Ovie send him a sweater or something.

  15. Alex McWhiter says:

Loved the Golden jet, but Brett was a whole different story, never had class when he played the game why would he show any class now. I can see the apple didn’t fall from the tree, you must be proud of you’re boy. He shows about as much class as his dad, maybe he’s just mad that he just wasn’t good enough to play this game himself, imagine missing out on that hockey gene, must be hard being a looser amongst hockey greatness. Talking about class, isn’t it the norm where the player that held that record would give congrats, instead of the response that was given. With all the talent coming up through the NHL, it won’t be long before Brett’s name is so far down the record’s list we’ll never hear his name. Cheerz’🍻

That’s what happens if you’re a American you grew up in a country full of hate and racist people now in other countries that aren’t racist like the U S it’s very different people all over the world are cheering OV to break the record of all the great players that’s what sports is all about, so America get over the racist bs and get behind OV because he will be the next one!!!🤡😁😜🤔👍🏒

It’s been said many times already but congratulations again to Alex / OVI . He plays the game with such passion and he never takes a night off. He great for the game and the fans. People pay to watch him. Congrats as well to Wayne the great one in so many respects. Another class act for the game. He takes the time to congratulate Alex / OVI on such an accomplishment . Records have sometimes got to be broken. It’s what it’s all about man. It’s news and in this case fantastic news. We sure can use more! Way to go Alex. Keeper going. Canada!

Typical American full of hate and racism. Thank God we live in Canada
OV is a great player and in my opinion second to only Wayne Gretzky who is
    what class is all about.
