Alex Ovechkin Scores 742nd Career Goal To Pass Brett Hull For Fourth Place On All Time List

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored his 742nd career NHL goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. The goal moved Ovechkin past Brett Hull for sole possession of fourth place on the NHL’s all-time goals list.

Ovechkin scored the historic marker at 10:19 into the first period. The goal tied the game at 1-1. Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilsony had the assists.

The Capitals released a pre-recorded video from Brett Hull following the goal, congratulating Ovechkin on his historic goal.

Ovechkin now has 12 goals and 10 assists in 13 games so far this season. He is now 24 goals behind Jaromir Jagr (766) for third all-time and is only behind Jagr, Gordie Howe (801), and Wayne Gretzky (894) in goals scored for his NHL career.
