Capitals’ Lars Eller On Game 4 Loss: “I Want To See A Different Team In Game 5 At Home. I Believe We Can Do That”

Washington Capitals center Lars Eller spoke to the media following Friday’s 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins in Game 4 of the First Round in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs. He discussed the frustrating loss and what the Capitals must do to turn this series around for Game 5.

Eller said “every aspect of the game” must be better going into Game 5 on Sunday, adding, “We’ve got to be better.” He did not share what was said in the locker room after the loss.

“We were off,” he said. “Now we got forty-eight hours to regroup here and I want to see a different team in Game 5 at home. I believe we can do that. I’ve seen it before.”

Eller mentioned that “it’s crucial to stay disciplined in the playoffs ” by not picking up minor penalties. “We can’t put ourselves down…fix, six penalties…a part of it is we got to play better with the puck, so we’re not chasing all the time…we got to want the puck.”

“Execution, moving the puck faster” are the critical areas Eller said the team must improve on in the next game. He explained how the puck is so important on the power-play and not just five-on-five action. “When there’s not a lot given, you just got to shoot and then you got to be on the rebounds,” Eller said.

He wants to “put the disappointment behind” and “reset mentally.” “We need the best from everybody,” Eller said. “We need a lot more than what we got tonight…and I know we can do it.”

Mantha was a bad trade. The New NHL is all about speed. Which Jakub Vrana , Could of made a major difference, Backstrom looks like an old man. Ovechkin just skating around in circles. Carlson looks like his best days are long gone. If it wasnt for Orlov . This series would be over. If they have any pride. Isee them winning Sunday. But that will be it
