Washington Capitals 2022 All-Star Break Vacations

Believe it or not, more than half of the Washington Capitals 2021-22 regular season (57% to be exact) is in the books, with the home-stretch and run for the playoffs set to get started on Tuesday. But before teams begin their final push for the postseason, players and their families had a little time off while the league’s All-Stars participated in this weekends All-Star activities in Las Vegas. Here’s a quick recap of what everyone was up to:

Alex Ovechkin

We begin with the Captain, dealing with COVID quarantine, who spent some much-deserved down time with best friend, Blake.

Dmitry Orlov

Many of the Capitals made their way to Florida for a little warm weather during the break. A majority spent time in the Miami area, including the Orlov family, who visited Sunny Isles, just north of Miami.

Anthony Mantha

Anthony and his fiancé also spent time in the Miami area.

[You can see the scar from Anthony’s recent surgery on his right shoulder.]

Nick Jensen

The Jensen family headed away from the sun, and apparently visited a Stephen King novel. Actually it looks like Nick got a little fishing in.

Martin Fehervary

Martin Fehervary headed south to the warmth of Miami, Florida as well.

While in Florida Marty got together with former Capitals forward Jakub Vrána and friends  on Saturday night.

Nic Dowd

The Dowd family also headed south to Florida, but to St. Petersburg on the west coast.

Aliaksei Protas

Aliaksei and his wife went in the opposite direction, preferring the slopes in Western Maryland over the sand for their All-Star break.

Nicklas Backstrom, T.J. Oshie and John Carlson

The Backstrom, Oshie and Carlson families headed to The Breakers in Florida for a a little family vacation time.

Conor Sheary

The Sheary family headed to Naples, Florida to celebrate Mila’s first birthday.

Daniel Sprong

Sprong head home to Montreal where he continued his workouts, on and off the ice.

Axel Jonsson-Fjallby

The Hershey Bears also began their All-Star break on Sunday, although the AHL’s All-Star game has been cancelled this season due to COVID. Axel and his girlfriend departed snowy Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday night for the warmth of Florida.

Alex Alexeyev

Defenseman and first round draft pick Alex Alexeyev also made his way to Southern Florida, Fort Lauderdale to be exact.

Garrett Pilon

Pilon joined Axel and Alex Alexeyev in Fort Lauderdale.

Brett Leason And Beck Malenstyn

They too hit Fort Lauderdale.

Mike Sgarbossa

Mike and his family headed north to Canada.

Tom Wilson And Evgeny Kuznetsov

And of course Willy and Kuzy headed to the All-Star weekend in Las Vegas.

Michal Kempny

And last, but certainly not least, poor Michal Kempny was just trying to get the heck out of freezing cold Dallas, where he had been quarantined for the past week after testing positive for COVID.

Sunday will be a travel day for most as Capitals practice begins Monday afternoon at 3:00 PM.

And another ex-Capital, Andre Burakovsky, was at Aspen with his girlfriend and some other folks. They did dogsledding and skiing, among other activities there. And, of course, nice dinners.

Thanks for covering the Caps’ vacation news.
