The Hershey Bears downed the Charlotte Checkers, 4-2 Sunday night at Giant Center in Hershey. The victory improves the Bears record to 7-5-2-1 (17 points) on the season.
The Checkers opened the scoring with a power play goal midway through the first frame for a 1-0 lead after the first 20 minutes of play.
The Bears would tie the game midway through the middle frame on Matt Moulson’s second goal of the season, but the Checkers would answer a little over a minute later to retake the lead at 2-1. Mike Sgarbossa would pot a game tying tally late in the middle frame fora 2-2 score at the second intermission.
Joe Snively would pot a power play tally early in the final frame to give the Bears their first lead of the game. Mike Sgarbossa would add an empty net goal for the 4-2 win.
STARTERS
Pheonix Copley (3-3-1-0, 3.09 GAA, .891 sv%) got the start between the pipes for the Bears. Christopher Gibson (3-3-0-1, 3.37 GAA, .903 sv%) got the start in goal for the Checkers. The starting forward lines and defensive pairs for the Bears:

FIRST PERIOD

That would be all of the scoring in the first frame. Charlotte led in shots 9-4. The Checkers were 1 for 1 on the power play in the first frame. Hershey did not have a man advantage in the first 20 minutes.
SECOND PERIOD
The Bears would tie the game on a power play goal from Matt Moulson (x) at 11:23 of the middle period. Cody Franson (5), and Joe Snively (6) had the assists.

But the Checkers would reclaim the lead just 1:04 later with a goal from Gustav Olofsson (1) at 12:27 of the middle frame. Zac Dalpe (4) and Aleksi Heponiemi (6) had the helpers.

The Bears would answer with a goal from Mike Sgarbossa (7) at 16:09 of the second period, tying the game 2-2. Michal Kempny (4) had the lone assist.

The period would end with the game tied 2-2. Hershey led in shots 10 to 9 in the second period, with Charlotte leading 18-14 after two periods of play. Both teams were 1 for 4 on the power play after 40 minutes of play.
THIRD PERIOD
The Bears would grab their first lead of the game on a power play goal from Joe Snively (x( at 2:39 of the final frame. Mike Sgarbossa (6) and Cody Franson (6) had the helpers.
