Capitals Release Roster For 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Washington Capitals released their 2020 Stanley Cup Playoff roster, which will be the group of players that travel to Toronto with the team on Sunday for the final week of training camp.

The black aces on the roster include forward Philippe Mailet, forward Beck Malenstyn, center Connor McMichael (2019 first-round pick), center Brian Pinho, forward Daniel Sprong; defensemen Alexander Alexeyev (2018 first-round pick), Martin Fehervary (2018 second-round pick), Tyler Lewington; and goaltender Vitek Vanecek (2014 second-round pick).

The team announced on Saturday that goaltender Ilya Samsonov will miss the tournament due to an undisclosed injury. The Capitals have no other injuries as of right now.

The team will play an exhibition game on Wednesday against the Carolina Hurricanes (4 PM ET, NBCSN nationally) and open their round-robin tournament against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday, August 3 (4 PM ET, NBC Sports Washington locally, NBCSN nationally).
