It’s that time of year! The Washington Capitals have started their 12th annual Mentor’s Trip (AKA Dad’s Trip) this weekend.
The mentors and fathers joined the team for the departure to Tampa Bay for a Saturday evening game against the Lightning.

Thursday evening, everyone enjoyed dinner and drinks on a cruise and had the chance to mingle around. Eight players are enjoying their first Mentor’s Trip with the Capitals this season: forwards Carl Hagelin, Garnet Hathaway, Brendan Leipsic, and Richard Panik; defenseman Nick Jensen, Radko Gudas, and Jonas Siegenthaler, and goaltender Ilya Samsonov.
The dads watched the team from the stands during Friday’s practice at Amalie Arena.

In addition to Saturday’s game, players’ mentors will be attending the game on Monday at Nationwide Arena as the Capitals clash with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Capitals have a 15-6-0 record with their mentors in attendance since 2008.
