Love it!!! Stromer!!! this team is showing some resilience and hopefully they secure a playoff spot! Wish they could protect the net a little bit so Lindy doesn’t always have to make these great saves to keep them in the game. Keep going, boys!!! Go hard and do not quit!!!!

I believe that with this win the Blue Jackets are now officially eliminated. By my count their max potential points is 80 and the Caps in second wild card have 81, so no matter what the BJs do, they can’t get enough points to make the playoffs.

I like that—“have something to prove” attitude, play with some defiance and an “us versus the world” mentality. And yeah, I was pessimistic at the start of this season and even more so in December. I guess it’s not where you start, but how and where you finish. Let’s fooking go, boys!!! Prove ’em all wrong and make them respect you!!!

Caps play Leafs then Bs… PF play the habs next… No Willie… but all going well. DS was a great UFA signing… when is SM back?

    Ain’t Getting It Done:

Captain Carbery summoned up the cojones to mete out discipline, some to the bench, some to Hershey. Last night saw NAK and Sgarbs underperform in early game. Then they had a seat the rest of the game with a “shortened bench.” A few days back the CC and Blues Magoos admitted that Dead-last 45 isn’t ready for the NHL and to the AHL he went. Good for the Blues Magoos

So that’s three out of four. Number four, of course, is G35. So what will Carbery and POHO Mac do with eleven games to go? Hershey has oodles of talented players, many of whom have toiled before in Washington. Make adjustments? Sit on your hands? Light up votive candles at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception?

I would prefer pro-active. Bring up one goalie and one position player from Hershey. Pray that Tom Wilson doesn’t get injured during his final three games of suspension

Mac signing Carbery may be his best signing yet. He wins wherever, with whomever

Yes, a few years down the road could be up there with Oshie acquisition

    • Anon Y. Mouse says:

Carbery will be to NHL hockey in DC, what Joe Gibbs was to NFL football.

    • Bob says:

People seemed to get down on him for a spell but after seeing what he did in hershey and his approach, he just needed time to get things moving. He’s a great coach.

  16. Anon Y. Mouse says:

Why do I get this feeling we’re gonna really hate that stupid chant they do at MSG after goals, in a few more weeks, after a playoff series? Whatever it is, it’s obnoxious. The only really good original goal song is the Dallas Stars, by Pantera.
Oh well. I guess it’s better than every flippin’ team in the league playing Rock and Roll Part 2 by pedophile Gary Glitter, as was the case 25 years ago.

I no longer give a rat’s ass about the Cap’s draft position in June. The experience this team is getting in winning against “better” teams is worth so much more. I’m reminded of Tampa Bay’s development years ago. First – they stink, they always stink, then – hey they aren’t so bad, finally-they are championship caliber. And it all happened in the space of 3 years. Carbery and GMBM are looking like geniuses to me.

    • Anon Y. Mouse says:

I’ve read about 10 draft rankings, by people like Scott Wheeler, Corey Pronman, and Bob McKenzie. And one thing all the rankings have in common is Macklin Celebrini will go #1 overall. After that, they’re all over the place. Teams may be getting as good a player at #15, as they can at #5. There’s no real point in tanking this year. Playoff experience is worth more than a good draft position, this summer.

The arena deal in NoVa is dead, according to the city of Alexandria. Strike One for Ted Terrific.

“WASHINGTON (AP) — Negotiations aimed at luring the NHL’s Washington Capitals and the NBA’s Washington Wizards to northern Virginia have “ended,” and the proposal to create a development district with a new arena for the teams “will not move forward,” the city of Alexandria said Wednesday.”

    • Fred says:

Clearly a bargaining tactic from the beginning. Ted never had any intention of moving to Va. He just wanted shithole DC to pony up more dough.

      • Anonymous says:

It was politics, not a bargaining tactic. The Virginia state legislature kiboshed it, because they detest Governor Youngkin. State political games, at their finest.

Iorio and Phillips called up from Hershey
That means 1) somebody is injured among the defensemen, and 2) MP45’s mommy has fantastic influence over the Caps Coaching staff

  24. Prevent Defense says:

The word “Dip”, in basic American slanguage, is frequently followed by and attached to another familiar four-letter word, rendering a pejorative to describe an idiot / dolt / stupid / retard etc. The word is appropriate to the “lawmaker” class in the Commonwealth of Virginia that just dissed the Caps/Wizards franchise who wanted to move there, with one of most lucrative and amazing cash flows available anywhere in North America

Literally dozens of cities, large and small, all over CONUS and Canada, are falling all over each other, trying and coveting and BEGGING for an NHL franchise. Salt Lake City, Houston, Kansas City, Hartford, Quebec City, Atlanta, even Hamilton in Ontario … EVERYBODY wants the NHL!

Everybody, that is, except the Dip****s of Virginia, who will go down in local history as the morons who thumbed their noses at the opportunity to take on the Washington Capitals NHL Franchise. Congratulations

G35 has given up Eleven Goals in two games
    Playoff teams need two goalies
Time to call on Hunter Shep

  27. Anon Y. Mouse says:

The playoff scenarios are definitely in the Caps favor. If the Caps go 6-5-0:

Detroit would have to go 7-2-1
NJ would have to go 8-0-1
NYI would have to go 9-1-1

Buffalo and Pitts are on life support

    • andrew777dc says:

Interesting math! And how do we stack up against Philly? What do we have to do to pass them, and they to ward us off?

      • Anon Y. Mouse says:

If the Caps go 6-5-0, then Philly could go 5-3-1, which would be a tie at 93 points. Then the tiebreakers get interesting. Both teams are tied with first tiebreaker, which is regulation wins. Best for the Caps to win in regulation, but ROWs and SOWs get points, and move us closer to the wild card. The third spot is probably best, since Carolina looks beatable, but I’ll take any playoff position. It’s house money, as it is.
