Former Washington Capitals and Colorado Avalanche forward Andre Burakovsky signed a five-year, $27.5 million deal with the Seattle Kraken on the first day of free agency. The deal reunites him with former Capitals teammate Philipp Grubauer.
Per TSN’s Chris Johnston the deal carries an annual average value of $5.5 million and totals $27.5 million.

The 27-year old forward (the 23rd overall pick in 2013 by Washington) is coming off a season in which he recorded 22 goals and 61 points in 81 Games Played with the Avalanche, and went on to record eight points in 12 Games Played, before missing the final four games of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final, in which Colorado won their third Stanley Cup. His expiring contract carried an annual average value and cap hit of $4.9 million. In 519 career NHL games with the Capitals and Avalanche, Burakovsky has 2295 Points. Additionally, he has captured the Stanley Cup twice; this summer with the Avs and in 2018 as a member of the Capitals.
