He’s Still Got It: Alex Ovechkin Scores First Goal of the 2020-21 Season, 707th Career Goal Against Penguins

He’s still got it! Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored his first goal of the 2020-21 season and his 707th career goal on Sunday as the Capitals clashed with the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena.

Ovechkin’s goal came at the 14:24 mark in the first period, giving the Capitals a 2-1 lead. Forward Tom Wilson and center Evgeny Kuznetsov had the assists.

He is now one goal shy of passing Mike Gartner (708) for the seventh most goals in NHL history.
