Washington Capitals’ center Evgeny Kuznetsov left Monday’s game against the New York Islanders with an upper-body injury after a collision with Islanders’ center Leo Komarov. The team announced on Tuesday that he is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Kuznetsov was not on the ice at practice this morning.
After taking a hit at center ice from Komarov at the boards, Kuznetsov headed down the tunnel in pain during the second period.
Kuznetsov missed the rest of the second period and was questionable to return for the third to which he did not.
He was not on the ice at Capitals’ practice this morning and is listed as day-to-day.

The team will continue to evaluate Kuznetsov over the next day to determine if he goes out West for the three-game road trip, beginning with the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night.
