Oak View Group filed the application to trademark the name “Firebirds” on August 9.
It was announced last month that OVG and Agua Caliente are partnering to build a privately-funded, 300,000 square foot arena in Palm Springs, California.
The AHL has yet to approve the team’s admission into the league but they will likely do so soon.
The Seattle franchise will likely announce their team name at the beginning of 2020. GM Ron Francis said that the team would have a delay, because of the dispute between the team on the name.

True, Samuel. I believe that was a recent change due to arena development issues.
