The Washington Capitals‘ annual rookie tournament will take place from Thursday, September 5 through Tuesday, September 10 in Nashville, Tennessee, just prior to the start of training camp. The Capitals have participated in the tournament regularly, though it has primarily been in Estero, Florida the past few times they have done so.
In the past, the Capitals have played the Nashville Predators, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Florida Panthers in the three-game tournament.
The tournament rosters for each team will include prospects who are under contract and recent draft picks who have not been signed yet. In addition, several undrafted and free agent amateur players will likely participate.
The Capitals went 2-1 in the tournament last year.
Expect the roster for the tournament to look similar to the squad that suited up in development camp late last month.
The team will open training camp three days after the conclusion of the tournament, according to CapitalsToday.com.
