Capitals’ Evgeny Kuznetsov Records Four Points, Alex Ovechkin Tallies Two In Russia’s 10-0 Route Of Italy At IIHF World Championships

Washington Capitals forwards Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov put on a show for Russia in their 10-0 blowout victory over Italy on Wednesday. Kuznetsov recorded two goals and four points while Ovechkin posted a goal and two points for the Russians.

Kuznetsov one-timed one to the back of the net after getting a pass from behind the goal for his first of the night.

Ovechkin buried a cross-ice feed from Kuznetsov past Italian goaltender Andreas Bernard from his office to make it 4-0. Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov was creditted with the secondary assist on the play.

Kuznetsov netted his second of the game on a breakaway, going five-hole on Bernard.

Kuznetsov pulled off a spin-a-rama assist to feed Los Angeles Kings forward Ilya Kovalchuk at the left circle to make it 6-0 Russia.

    Glad to see the Russian Caps having a happy time after the miserable end to their Stanley Cup Defense. They deserve a LOT better than the prospect of another whole year of dubious coaching!
