Hershey Bears Lose Back-to-Back Preseason Games Against Penguins (Photos)

The Bears wrapped up training camp with two preseason games against their I-81 rivals the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Last night, the Bears lost to the Pens 6-2 in Wilkes-Barre. Tonight, the Bears were looking for a bit of redemption but came up short, losing in a closer scoring match of 3-2.

Tonight’s two goals were some firsts for some newbies in the Chocolate and White. Axel Jonsson-Fjallby tied the game up with his first AHL goal in the first period, and Shane Gersich gave the Bears a brief lead in the second before Wilkes-Barre would eventually tie the game up at 2-2.

The Bears had a few power play opportunities in the third and unfortunately about mid-way through the third, the Pens would cash-in on with the gamewinner. (Read more about the game here).

The Bears didn’t look bad, and tonight’s lineup won’t be the final one. Riley Barber and Liam O’Brien cleared waivers early today and weren’t in the lineup. It’s the beginning of a new season with some new faces – I hope you’re ready Bears’ fans!

Samsonov leads the team onto the ice for warmups.

Fjallby celebrates with this teammates after scoring his first AHL goal.

Gerisch taps one into the empty net for his first AHL goal.

Just like this one because Johansen is celebrating in the foreground.

First of many there Gersich.

That’s when Lewington realized he had to do something.

I love how in the chaos of this photo you can still see Samsonov has one eye on the puck.

Fjallby comes out to wave to the fans for his second star of the game honors.

Definitely grabbing the single team season pass with AHLTV. Only like 60 bucks. They finally have a decent app that works across a bunch of platforms too!
