Hershey Bears Lose 3-2 in Shootout to Lehigh Valley Phantoms (Photos)

HERSHEY, PA – I’m sure the Bears were looking for a little redemption from Friday’s 7-6 loss against the Phantoms in Allentown, but that unfortunately didn’t happen for Hershey in the two team’s final matchup of the regular season. In the 12 games between the Phantoms and Bears, Hershey had a 2-7-1-2 record and the last game they won against them was on December 9th. Lehigh has cruised into first place in the Atlantic Division and second place in the AHL. If we manage to sneak into fourth place, the Phantoms would be the team we’d face.

There are 16 games remaining for the Hershey Bears to make it to fourth in the Atlantic. They are currently 8th with a record of 24-27-4-5. It will be a tough one, especially with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins as opponents for three of the last 16.

If you want to read more on Sunday’s shootout loss, read the full-game recap, and as always, keep scrolling for more photos.

Tim McGauley is up with the Bears during Travis Boyd’s recall to Washington.
Who invited this guy? I think someone needs to remind him what team kicked the Phantoms out of the playoffs last year.

Day 2 of puppy puck drop went much better.

Can we have a dog drop the puck every game?

Junior player of the game was a goalie. Little tendy gear is too cute.

Corbin Knight starts the scoring for the Phantoms.

Then Joe Whitney ties the game at 1.

Yay!

Ohhhh boy hittin’ with those lefts. Seriously though. Has Lewington had 10 fighting majors yet? Is that still a suspension? Gotta be getting close.

The Phantoms celebrate their goal that ties the game back up. This time it’s 2-2.

Aaron Ness gets the penalty call and still clears the puck while on his belly.

Drawing up some plays for OT.

Joe Whitney is the lone Bear to score in the shootout.

Corbin Knight goes top shelf (again).
Yeah, yeah, yeah.. it’s happy Phantoms again.
