Hershey Bears Snap Five Game Win Streak With OT Loss to Rockford IceHogs (Photos)

HERSEHY, PA — Tonight might be a tough one for the Bears, who were gaining a little confidence on a five-game win streak, outscoring their opponents 21-9 over those games. In 56 games played, the Bears now have a record of 23-25-4-4 and are currently three spots out of the playoffs, ranking seventh in the Atlantic Division. (If you want to keep up with what the Bears’ magic number is, you can check out the AHL’s playoff primer.)

As they say, there’s no rest for the weary – the Chocolate and White are in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday for a matchup against their division rivals the Penguins. Some big points on the line!

That looks uncomfortable.

Taking the shot through some traffic.

For two teams that have only played each other twice this season, they surely had some animosity out there.

Barber tries to pop in the rebound.

And Rockford scores on the other end.

Then hockey’s favorite Aussie chucks some knucks.

A Bears’ celly.

Followed by, wouldn’t you know it, an IceHogs goal.

Barber ties the game to force the OT.

A caged Vitek and some angry Bears.

Barber almost had a breakaway, but there wasn’t a call on this whole incident.

And yep, Rockford seals the win in OT. It’s a shame the Bears couldn’t get it done for Vitek Vanecek, who made 36 saves on the night compared to the Rockford goalie, who only had to make 11 – that’s right 11 for the entire game and OT.
