Washington Capitals Head Coach Peter Laviolette’s team entered the post-All-Star break with a hard-fought, 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. The veteran bench boss, who notched his 745th career victory, also coached in his 1,402nd career game.
In doing so, Laviolette passed former NHL and Capitals bench boss Ron Wilson for the 11th-most Games Coached in NHL history.

Laviolette has coached 192 games behind the Caps bench, with a record of 108-63-31 (.592 Points Percentage). His points percentage is the fourth-highest among NHL head coaches with at least 1,400 games manned behind the bench; only Scotty Bowman, Joel Quenneville, and Ken Hitchcock are ahead.
Laviolette’s 1,402 games coached are the fifth most among active coaches and his career .592 points percentage is the fourth highest among coaches with at least 1,400 games coached (Scotty Bowman: .657; Joel Quenneville: .612; Ken Hitchcock: .599).

Laviolette, who is the winningest American-born Head Coach in the history of the league, ranks eighth all-time in Wins, and is 38 victories away from surpassing Al Arbour.
