While hockey in North America enters the sleepy dog days of August, preseason training is in full swing in Russia as players begin preparations for the upcoming KHL season. The season will begin the first week of September.
Last week Capitals prospect Bogdan Trineyev participated in Moscow Dynamo’s first preseason game, scoring in the shootout. This week Trineyev was called to the Russian National team to participate in the upcoming 2021 Sochi Hockey Open.
Four Dynamo players received the call to the Russian national team: Vasily Machulin (defender) and Dmitry Zlodeev, Alexander Kisakov and Bogdan Trineev (all forwards).
The tournament will include KHL teams Avangard, Avtomobilist, HC SKA, HC Sochi, Traktor and the Russian Olympic team. As part of the Sochi Hockey Open, the Russian Olympic team will play four games:
August 4, 15:00. Avangard – Russian Olympic team.
August 5, 15:00. “Traktor” – Russian Olympic team.
August 6, 19:30. Sochi – Russian Olympic team.
August 8, 13:00. Russian Olympic team – Avtomobilist.
Trineyev, a 6’-2”, 190lb winger, was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the 4th round (#117 overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old is currently unsigned by the team.

Russian hockey legend Igor Larionov is currently the head coach of the Russian National team. On Monday he spoke about the inclusion of the young players on the National team:
“Let’s check the guys who were called. We will have a few days before the tournament in order to convey to them certain guidelines that will help us face the KHL teams. The most important thing will be the desire to prove yourself. We will give them direction and expect that in the national team jersey they will show worthy resistance to the experienced teams.”
In the first match of the KHL regular season, Dynamo Moscow will face Dinamo Minsk on September 3.

Article says he’s unsigned by the Team… well they better sign this Russian sniper! He may be another Ov or atleastKucherov or Kirill the Thrill. Sign him
Get this kid signed Already! He may be another Kucherov or Kirill the Thrill.
It’s not uncommon that teams don’t immediately sign new draft picks. He was drafted in October. Teams have three years to sign a player before other teams can approach.
