The Capitals are back in action Friday night for game two of their two-game set against the Boston Bruins. Puck drop is set for just after 7:00 PM. The team held their game day morning skate Friday morning at Warrior Ice Arena in Boston. Here’s the latest from Bean Town:

Vitek Vanecek will start in goal for the Capitals tonight.

Head coach Peter Laviolette was asked about using Jakub Vrana first in the shootout recently.

Tom Wilson was asked if he thought the Bruins were targeting Capitals players in the previous game.

  • Nicklas Backstrom leads the Capitals in points against the Bruins this season (1g, 2a), while Alex Ovechkin (1g, 1a), John Carlson (1g, 1a), Richard Panik (1g, 1a) and Jakub Vrana (2a) have all recorded two points.
  • The Capitals have won nine of their last 11 road games against Boston (9-2-0), dating back to March 6, 2014.
  • The Capitals allowed a season-low 19 shots against the Bruins on Wednesday and improved to 9-2-1 in games where they allow fewer than 30 shots per game.
  • Since Feb. 16 and during the past nine games, the Capitals are allowing an NHL-low 25.4 shots per game and have recorded a 51.3 shot attempt percentage at five-on-five, improving from 47.7 percent from the season opener to Feb. 14.
