Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie picked up two power-play goals in the 4-2 Game 1 loss to New York Islanders in the first-round series at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. He passed Dino Ciccarelli for the sixth most playoff goals in franchise history.

Oshie opened today’s scoring on a power-play 5:27 into the second period. Center Evgeny Kuznetsov and defenseman John Carlson assisted.

Wednesday’s Game 1 marked Oshie’s second straight game with a goal. His 0.37 goals per game ranks fifth in franchise history among players with at least 30 games (Dino Ciccarelli: 0.66; Alex Ovechkin: 0.50; John Druce: 0.47; Peter Bondra: 0.41).

Oshie extended the Capitals lead 2-0 on another power-play 11:18 in the middle frame. Forward Tom Wilson and Carlson had the helpers.

After scoring his second goal of the game and third of the postseason, Oshie passed Dino Ciccarelli for the sixth most playoff goals in franchise history. He has scored 12 power-play goals in the playoffs since joining the Capitals ahead of the 2015-16 season.
