It’s abundantly clear that the 23-24 Caps have NO PRAYER of succeeding this season. Will be a miracle if they make the playoffs. Like the ancient herb Syrup of Ipecac, the Caps induce vomiting

I think it was NovaFyre some weeks back who outlined the Caps “Chain of Command” with Owner Ted and Dick Patrick and Super-GM MacLellan and a whole host of others …. and fairly asking the question, “What the Devil do these guys DO all day?” $ukk on the ice is bad enough, but it is the INACTION that is most sickening. More than in any year of the past 25 or so, this seasons “Management” staff has done more NOTHING than any other. The season is CRYING out for a massive influx – outflux of new players. Yet fans get what we’ve gotten all season: NOTHING

The Caps $ukk. Both individual players, the Team as a whole, the “coaching” staff, the “Front” office. The scouting and recruiting arm isn’t bad, I’ve always liked the job Ross Mahoney & Co. has done. But the entire rest of the operation should hang their heads in shame. The Caps are the ultimate Do-Nothing franchise. Vomit vomit Puke puke

I did. I want to know who to blame. As I have moved from location to location in my careers one of my first tasks was to learn where the powers resided — who could do what. I have had to fire people I wanted to keep and kept people I wanted to fire. Being the face of the group didn’t mean I had the power. So I want to know who in that chain is doing what. I hope that we move more into evaluation mode and then contract decisions. But who will be deciding any of that? Fancy titles don’t mean squat if power doesn’t come with it. Can Carbs sit Darcy and play Chucky if he is still hot? Can he change Ovi’s TOI or line or PP time? Can he decide who gets recalled from Hershey? Or loaned? (And remember, Caps can loan players to any AHL or ECHL team that will take them — maybe the baby Pits would like Darcy.) What power does Carbs have?

The problem is that the owner does not realize that sports does not work like AOL! You can not keep doing the same thing and expect different results. When GMGM went so should have GMBM, didn’t happen and still doing the same stupid things that his predecessor did. When trotz left over money the Gm should have been fired adn a whole new crew brougnt in…they didn’t. When they got rid of Laviolette they should have gotten rid of MacLellan but they didn’t. When they brought in, finally, a young coach in Carbery they also should have brought in a young GM to get this franchise ready for the next several decades, sad they didn’t. Instead they are still trying to live on the laurels of 2018 and that is in the dust and in the memories. I feel sorry for Carbery as he has a bright future however this franchise might just make him have an ulser soon and if he had hair lose it.

Solutions: 1) Fire MacLellanas soon as possible and do not let him bring in any more old hurt players no matter their reputation; 2) trade as many players who are on either expiring contracts or have only 1 year left as possible and hopefully get nothing but picks or prospects for them; 3) sit Kuemper as if we are going to lose I would rather lose with a rookie that someone who , I hate to say lazy, just does not have it most nights;4) strongly suggest oshie retire s he has had way to many concussions and the chances the he will develop CTE are great however you can not diagnose it without disceting the brain; 5) as much as I like Down trade hi asap for picks and bring up Sutter toplay the 4th line C position; 6) trade anyand all D-men except Feherevary and Alexeyev;7) trade, release, put on waivers Phillips and bring up someone from Hershey who might be here next year. In other words get rid of players who are the future not the present or past. The onlyperson whois fooled that this team is a playoff team is the owner and possible GM.

        • novafyre says:

See, you’re assuming Ted is making those decisions. If it is Ted, I too want to blame him. But was it really him? Or was it Patrick? Who has authority to change the GM (who by the way isn’t just the GM any more)? When they brought in Carbs did they limit his authority because he wasn’t a grizzled old NHL vet? I find their management structure as opaque as NHL injury reports.

          • hockeydruid says:

If I remember correctly, if I dont forgive age, was it not Ted who came out last summe rand said we arenot going to rebuild but retool. And that the most important thing to do was/is get Ovie the record! This team needs a rebuild and all the owners and brass need to realize that. GMBM wants to keep his job so he does as he ws taught and as the owners want. How tired of this team am I, last night I watched the Terps game instead of the Caps.
Carbery should have the authority to do with players as he sees fit. IF he think Charlie is the better goalie that use him more and who care if it shows what a bad move the GM made! IF he thinks tha the PP needs to have a change of personnel then so be it. Sad to say but I think he could be a very good to great HC but if not allowed to make moves is going to look like he is floundering when it is not his doing.
I often wonder about one of the nicknames for Ovie,”Coach Killer”, and wonder how much the brass runs past him first.
As for trading a lot of players I realize that age and salary make it impossible to get rid of some without taking on another equally bad contract.
Whoever is making the decisions needs to either go or be voted down by the others. I am assumng that it is Ted as he is the majority owner an spokes person for the group. As for the GM; Brian MacLellan is entering his 10th season as general manager and first as president of hockey operations and general manager of the Capitals. He has been here 23 years and maybe gotten a little stale. As for the Patricks….well lets say that just because you come from a hockey family does not make you a hockey guy with good sense. And hopefully when they go to look for a new GM they go further than when they looked for one when GMGM left and we do not end up with Chris Patrick there!

            • novafyre says:

If I had to guess, I would guess that Chris is headed up the Caps food chain.

Yes, Ted said it, and maybe it is his call, but then again, maybe not. But then I don’t believe Biden is calling the shots in the WH no matter what he may come out and say.

              • hockeydruid says:

LMAO well at leat, guess we assume this one, Ted can wipe his own bum where Biden needs lots of help! This franchise is in as much a mess, but you never hear about it, as the Deadskins were/are and will be for awhile.

Who’s been the one constant for the last 40 years? Not Leonsis, not MacLellan.

His biggest initials are DP, and he comes from a well known hockey family.

        • novafyre says:

yep. What is the difference between Chairman of the Caps and President of the Caps? And now a family dynasty. What power does Asst GM in charge of player personnel have?

Ted Leonsis, Managing Partner, Monumental Sports
          20 partners
Brian MacLellan, President of Hockey Operations & General Manager, Washington Capitals (Senior Vice President & General Manager)
Dick Patrick, Vice Chairman and Partner, President, Washington Capitals (Vice Chairman and Partner Monumental Sports & Entertainment; and Chairman, Washington Capitals)
Ross Mahoney – Assistant General Manager
Don Fishman – Assistant General Manager & Director of Legal Affairs
Chris Patrick – Assistant General Manager, Player Personnel
          Spencer Carbery – Head Coach
Assistant coaches and other technical staff

Who makes the goalie call for each game?

          • Anonymous says:

I believe Dick Patrick owns part of the team too. If there’s someone to blame for 40 years of near misses, and occasional downright mediocrity, it’ll be Tricky Dick.

  7. andrew777dc says:

I had a very bad feeling about this game, and it materialized, despite a positive start and really a positive first half of the game up front. Not the least because Darcy ended up going in net. And all the injuries, and people playing through them. But why could the Caps not maintain that offensive push after drawing within one, and especially in the third, when they needed to score two? Beats me.

For every save our goaltenders don’t make, they have made 10 they stood on their head for in the same game. The teams trash, been saying that since pre season. Caps need to tank as hard as they can.

in 35 games, our most talented player has 6G and 7A and is -12. Trade him for whatever you can get. He’s been allowed to be worthless and get paid to suck for far too long. Unacceptable. Why is he still on this team?????

can anyone post video of alexa saying cRapitals??

It’s tough to win when your goaltender gives up shots from beyond the dots with no traffic in front. He needs to go.
