STAT OF THE DAY – GOALTENDING
Today’s stat of the day looks at the Capitals team save percentage at even strength over the course of the season. [Click to enlarge]
After getting off to a tremendous start to the season, and arguably saving the Capitals season while the rest of the team struggled, the Capitals goaltending cooled in November before rising again in December. However, the team goaltending percentage has once again cooled and dipped from .924% on December 31 to .918% over the last 13 games. They are currently 15th in the league.

DOWN ON THE FARM
Bogdan Trineyev recorded the primary assist on Dynamo’s overtime game-winning goal on Sunday. Trineyev, 20, almost scored the game-winner in regulation if it wasn’t for a great defensive play by a Barys player. It’s good to see the team looks to him for 3-on-3 play in critical moments of the game.

Trineyev, 6’-2”, 205, also had a monster hit in the game.

Frank is currently on an AHL contract and can’t be brought up to Washington as a result. However, the Capitals should be considering inking him to an NHL contract before another team does.
