The Capitals announced that the 35-year old would not return to the game and will be re-evaluated tomorrow.
Injury update: #Caps TJ Oshie (upper body) will not return to tonight’s game and will be re-evaluated tomorrow.

Oshie played in just 44 games (11g, 14a) last season after dealing with more than one injury. Oshie also had a procedure done during the off-season.
“It was just a core procedure that needed to get done. Happened at the end of March. Something that I played through. Got it done, I think, two or three weeks after the season ended. We’re almost kinda back to full. Didn’t do the skate test today, just didn’t want to get too sore for the practices, playing the real hockey.”
Caps Coach Peter Laviolette said T.J. Oshie (upper body) and Dmitry Orlov (lower) are both day to day.
Oshie “probably will not play” in the Caps’ last preseason game on Saturday. “He’s dealing with something.”
Orlov is “maintenance/day-to-day,” WSH will see how he is tomorrow.

This is why it is so important to get your prospects coached by the Caps, practicing with the Caps, playing games with the Caps. Injuries happen, suspensions happen. Subs will be needed. The more familiar the subs are with the Caps and the more familiar the Caps are with the subs, the more productive the subbing will be.
Glad that it is day to day, but with the NHL’s opaque injury policy, that could still mean missing the start of the regular season.
Yep. Spot on, Fyre. Also, getting old sucks.
It does. And I want Ovi, Nicky, Osh, Willy to be able to play with their kids, to be able to go out and do sports things with them. And maybe their grandkids. Can’t leave it all on the Caps’ ice.
And so it begins, hopefully CMM or AJF or Protas are ready for playing time.
it is going to be an interesting next few days. I wouldn’t want to be the GM right now. Will be interesting to see how he pieces it all together.
No way Oshie plays in last game. May sit Orlov too just so you can see Gus (2LD) and LuJo (3LD).
