Tis the season. Wedding season.
You may recall that just two weeks ago former Washington Capitals netminder Vitek Vanecek married longtime girlfriend Kristýna “Tynka” Fejtova in Prague, Czechia. On the same day, former Capitals defenseman Christian Djoos married Ebba Ostlund in Högbo, Sweden. This weekend, it’s all about Nicklaus Backstrom and his wife-to-be, Liza Berg.
Teammates and former teammates began their travels to Sweden earlier in the week. T.J. Oshie and his wife, Lauren, arrived in Stockholm on Thursday.
Two-time Stanley Cup champion Andre Burakovsky and his girlfriend, Johanna Scortea, traveled from Malmo to Stockholm via train on Friday.
As for the happy couple, they kicked off the festivities Friday night with a private gathering.

Last spotted on a cruise ship near a Turkey, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he turned up.
If he’s not there it’s because either Sweden isn’t allowing Russians in or he and Nicky agreed they didn’t need a Russian distraction. With Sweden joining NATO I’m sure feelings are high. It wouldn’t be because Ovi doesn’t want to be there. Not as tight as these two have been.
