Wedding season is going full bore for former Washington Capitals players. On Saturday former Capitals’ goaltender Vitek Vanecek married long-time girlfriend Kristýna “Tynka” Fejtova in Prague, Czechia. His wedding came just one day after being traded from the Capitals to the New Jersey Devils.
Also on Saturday former Capitals’ defenseman and Stanley Cup Champion Christian Djoos married long-time girlfriend Ebba Ostlund in Högbo, Sweden, just west of his hometown of Gavle, Sweden. That’s right, the Djoos is no longer loose.
Capitals on hand for the Djoos nuptials included defenseman Michal Kempny, winger Axel Jonsson-Fjallby and center Nicklas Backstrom, who was making one of his first public appearances since undergoing surgery to his left hip just three weeks ago.
Michal Kempny’s fiance’ Nicola Minarikova posted a panning video of the reception, which included Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, Kempny, Backstrom and Liza Berg in attendance.
Approximately one week ago Backstrom made what is believed to be his first post-surgery public appearance posing for an advertising photo for a local jet ski training academy. Always representing, Nick sported a Washington Wizards hat for the advertisement.
Fellow Swede and Capitals left-winger Axel Jonsson-Fjallby was also on hand for the Djoos wedding.

As for Saturday’s groom, Christian Djoos won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2018 before being traded to the Anaheim Ducks at the 2020 trade deadline.
Djoos would play another year for Anaheim before concluding his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings in 2021. Djoos then moved his game to Switzerland, playing for EV Zug in the National League last season and is set to play for them again this fall.
Vanecek Wedding
As noted, also on Saturday, former Capitals netminder Vitek Vanecek got married. Capitals defenseman Martin Fehervary was in attendance for the event, which was held in Prague, Czechia.

Another former Capital and Hershey Bear is also getting ready to get married next weekend in Prague, Czechia. Liam O’Brien, who currently plays for the Arizona Coyotes, gathered friends and former teammates, including Riley Barber and Garrett Mitchell, for one last blast as a single man in Budapest, Hungary.
Congratulations and best wishes to all of the former Capitals on their weddings.
