Tom Wilson Takes Line Rushes, Daniel Sprong Pulled From Ice, Justin Schultz Doesn’t Participate In Capitals Morning Skate In Philly

The Washington Capitals made their way to the City of Bortherly Love on Monday following their practice at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. They will face the Flyers tonight before the league begins their COVID-extended holiday break. The league will reopen facilities on Sunday with games re-starting on Monday.

Tom Wilson took line rushes with the team at morning skate, and it appears that he will be making his first start tonight since December 10th against the Penguins.

Justin Schultz did not participate in morning skate. Daniel Sprong began participating in morning skate, but then abruptly left the ice.

Lines at morning skate in Philly:

The team cancelled media availability following morning skate. There is a good chance that tonight’s game is postponed.

With a win tonight in Philadelphia, the Capitals will go into the holiday break with an NHL-best 45 points despite missing numerous players with injuries and on NHL’s COVID-19 protocol. This season, all 29 of the Capitals’ skaters have recorded a point, two shy of the franchise mark (31) set in the 2013-14 season.

Philadelphia

The Capitals face the Philadelphia Flyers tonight at Wells Fargo Center for the second time this season. Should the Capitals win tonight, it will mark the longest win streak on the road against the Flyers in franchise history (5).

Washington has earned points in 10 of their last 12 games on the road (7-2-3) and is 9-3-3 away from Capital One Arena this season, tied for the fifth-best road points percentage in the NHL (.700).

The Capitals, who lead the NHL in five-on-five goals (79), are on pace to score 208 five-on-five goals this season, which would tie a NHL record since the League began tracking the data in 2009-10.
