HERSHEY, PA – The Hershey Bears announced via press release today that Capital BlueCross will be the title sponsor for the 2018 AHL Outdoor Classic which will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Hersheypark Stadium. The game will feature the Bears and, in-state rival, Lehigh Valley.

In the release, Hershey’s VP of Hockey Operations, Bryan Helmer, said “We’re honored to be working with Capital BlueCross on the 2018 Capital BlueCross Outdoor Classic. They’re a fantastic partner that has always been a big supporter of the Hershey Bears and the Hershey community. Their participation in the game, and the sharp new logo unveiled today, continue to build the excitement for this marquee event.”

It is a marquee event for the AHL, but it is an incredible honor for Hershey to once again host this event on the club’s 80th Anniversary Season. Hershey previously teamed up with Capital BlueCross for the 2013 AHL Outdoor Classic where the Bears hosted Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and the health insurer is thrilled to be a part of this event once again.

Gary D. St. Hilaire, president and CEO of Capital BlueCross, said via the release “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Hershey Bears as they bring world class hockey to Central Pennsylvania. The 2018 Capital BlueCross Outdoor Classic provides the opportunity for hockey fans to see the game in an exciting and unique setting, and we are proud to be a part of making that happen.”

Additionally, the release stated that season ticket holders should be receiving information on the purchase of tickets for the 2018 Capital BlueCross Outdoor Classic soon as tickets will go on sale to the general public on August 18, 2017.
