Carolina goalie Eddie “The Stork” Lack has had enough. Lack is proposing a new “zoid” on the ice in response to Alex Ovechkin’s “office work”.
Moments after Ovechkin netted his 1,000th career point in last nights 5-2 victory over the Penguins, Lack took to Twitter to propose a solution. (tongue in cheek, of course).
Trapezoid was invented to slow down Brodeur’s stick skills. I say we introduce an Ovizoid to slow down @ovi8!! 😂🏒🔥#Ovech1Kinpic.twitter.com/Y4hJlhBnr6

Lack’s idea is based on the the trapezoid rule, also known as Rule 1.8 in the NHL rulebook, which was introduced after the 2004-05 lockout. Most feel the rule was implemented to temper goalies with great stick-handling skills.
One of Lack’s Twitter followers (@BradHutch) even went as far as to conjure up a visual demonstration of how the rule would work. The goal below would be ruled “No Goal”.

NoVa Caps is obviously against “zoid” rules, including the one proposed by Lack, but we feel for him and his goalie brethren. Nice try though. We do appreciate that the zone is in the shape of the number 8. That’s a nice touch.
