Players Reporting
T.J. Oshie and his family arrived in Virginia late last night. T.J. Oshie, Nate Schmidt and Garrett Mitchell made it onto the ice at Kettler for the first time on Wednesday morning.
As of Wednesday morning, all players have now reported to Kettler and participated in on-ice exercises with the exception of Jay Beagle and Alex Ovechkin. Ovechkin has stated he will be returning on Monday, September 14th.
Practice this morning followed typical suit, commencing with skating drills, followed by 5 on 5 scrimmage.
Rookie Tournament
As previously noted, many of the Capitals will be heading to the Rookie Tournament this weekend in Estero, Florida. Those participating in the tournament will be leaving tomorrow (Thursday). The schedule for the tournament is as follows:
SATURDAY, SEP. 12
3:00 p.m. – Florida @ Washington
7:00 p.m. – Nashville @ Tampa Bay
SUNDAY, SEP. 13
3:00 p.m. – Nashville @ Florida
7:00 p.m. – Tampa Bay @ Washington
MONDAY, SEP. 14
(No games)
TUESDAY, SEP. 15
10:00 a.m. – Washington @ Nashville
2:00 p.m. – Florida @ Tampa Bay
As reported by Alex Prewitt, “After tearing his ACL in February, Nathan Walker said the knee is good to go for the rookie tournament in Florida”.
All Capitals games will be broadcast online at WashingtonCaps.com and on their dedicated radio channel, Caps Radio 24/7.
News and Notes
Those Capitals not heading to the Rookie Tournament this weekend have scheduled ice time at Kettler for Friday and Saturday mornings, starting at 9:10 a.m.
Jonas Siegenthaler, the Capitals 2nd Round Draft pick in this years NHL entry draft, has his season opener tonight for Zurich, then he will be jetting west for the Capitals Rookie tournament.
The Washington Capitals will be holding an Open House on September 15th, from 6 to 8 pm at Verizon Center, for those potentially interested in looking at season tickets. For more information, look here.
