The Washington Capitals return to action Tuesday night when they host the Montreal Canadiens at Capital One Arena. Here is what you need to know from Tuesday’s optional morning skate.
Sonny Milano was in a regular practice jersey for the first time in nearly two months. Milano has not played since Dec. 10 against the Chicago Blackhawks. Milano is still on injured-reserve with an upper-body injury.
Evgeny Kuznetsov did not participate in the morning skate, as it was announced yesterday that he entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program. The Capitals recalled Mike Sgarbossa on Monday and it appears that he will be making his season debut.
Milano, Matthew Phillips, Alex Alexeyev and Ethan Bear participated in the scratches’ skate.
Charlie Lindgren will get the start in goal for Washington.
The #ALLCAPS did not run lines this a.m. but based on yesterday’s practice, here’s how things *could* look vs. MTL:
Pacioretty-McMichael-Oshie
Ovechkin-Strome-Wilson
Mantha-Sgarbossa-Protas
Malenstyn-Dowd-NAKFehervary-Carlson
Sandin-TVR

Spencer Carbery was also given some beer from Beck Malenstyn’s father’s brewery. The annual Capitals mentors trip is this weekend in Florida and Boston.
Following Caps’ morning skate, Spencer Carbery chatted with Beck Malenstyn’s dad, Ken, who gifted the head coach with some beer from his Barnside Brewing Co. in British Columbia.
