Max Pacioretty Close To Playing, Ethan Bear Spotted At Capitals Practice: News From Capitals Practice

The Washington Capitals held practice at MedStar Capitals Iceplex ahead of their matchup against the New York Islanders. Here is what you need to know.

The big news coming out of Tuesday was the promotion of rookie forward Ivan Miroshnichenko. The rookie forward was recalled Tuesday morning, along with Hendrix Lapierre, and was on the third line with Evgeny Kuznetsov. Miroshnichenko was also on the second power play unit.

Max Pacioretty shedded his non-contact jersey for the first time since joining the team. He had been skating in a non-contact jersey and was working with skills coach Kenny McCudden.

T.J. Oshie was placed on injured-reserve this morning. He is currently dealing with a lower-body injury. The Capitals are still without Sonny Milano who is not expected to return until after the Christmas break.

Meanwhile, defenseman Ethan Bear was spotted at the practice facility. The Capitals were the favorites to sign the 26-year-old blueliner in hopes of helping their offense on the backend. Bear had 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) in 61 games with the Vancouver Canucks last season.

The Capitals take on the Islanders at 7:30 p.m. at Capital One Arena on Wednesday, Dec. 20

Just what we need another walking wounded player who, like Oshie, can not stop from getting hurt. To see how age affects players all one has to do is look at Ovie this year and Oshie this year and last. Pleaesetaside the want to bein the playoffs and realize that this team needs more of an infusion of younger players to move forward.

It’s been many years since a Caps GM was able to provide such a heavy TYPE O-Positive transfusion to am anemic, floundering team DURING the regular season — without a single trade

I join the BUZZ around Caps-land that a major positive muscle-movement has just occurred. The players are obviously energized too. Coaching staff can’t help but be delighted

Look at that lineup! Strome, Pro, Mac, LaPi, Miro, Fehervary, Malenstyn, Sandin, E Bear and AL-squared. SERIOUS youth and SERIOUS talent. I didn’t include Phillips because he’s in MY doghouse at the moment

But now ALL BETS ARE OFF with the 23-24 Caps. They’ve made their move with internal talent, and still have barely “tapped the well” … And especially with Miro the Hero — If he can hit the ground running and score goals — the whole roster will benefit. The Caps might even promote from “Stuck in Neutral” to “Pretty Good”
