Post-season awards continue to roll-in for Washington Capitals forward prospect Alexander Suzdalev. On Thursday the CHL named the 19-year-old winger to their 2023 All-Rookie team. Suzdalev led all WHL rookies in goals (38), assists (48), points (86), power play goals (17), and power play assists (19), and tied for first in points per-game (1.30).
“We’re thrilled for Alex,” Paddock said. “I think it just goes to show that he indeed should have been the WHL Rookie of the Year. It’s very hard to figure out how he wasn’t. It shouldn’t have happened. Him being recognized by the CHL is very good for him and very good for the Pats.”
Suzdalev was named WHL Rookie of the Month for April, as well as for the months of December and February. He was the only player to earn the honour more than once in 2022-23.
In the post-season, he added 10 points (7G-3A) in seven playoff games with Regina, which ranked third on the team. Suzdalev was also named Rookie of the Year for the Regina Pats for the 2022-23 season.

The Khabarovsk, RUS product recorded 29 multi-point efforts and seven multi-goal games this season. The 6-foot-3, 171 lb. winger was re-assigned from the Regina Pats to the AHL Hershey Bears on April 14 after the Pats were eliminated in the first round of the WHL playoffs.

Suzdalev was chosen in the third round, 70th overall, by the Capitals in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. It just so happens to be the team he grew up rooting for.
“I was a huge Caps fan,” Suzdalev said. “I was loving Ovi [Alexander Ovechkin] and I was from a place in Siberia where Alexander Semin was from so that was my favourite player when I was little. … Really happy to be drafted by them. It couldn’t be any better almost.”

Is Sudz travelling with the Bears or just in Hershey?
I don’t think he’s traveling, just working out with team in chocolate town.
Sudzy, Trineyev and Miro all fit the “Mike Bossy” corollary. Being an NHL grinder can be taught. An NHL scoring machine is divinity
Your eloquent wording is inspiring “Prevent”. Let me know if you are interested in writing.
Congratulations to Suzdalev!
Suz Your Daddy!
Does anyone know if he’s improved his skating this past year? Seems the only knock on him as a prospect was his skating.
Greetings folks! Just a quick note, if you haven’t done so already, please consider subscribing to NoVa Caps posts in the “subscribe” box located in the upper right corner. Thank you!
