The NHL announced on Monday that two players out of more than 800 tested for COVID-19 since training camps opened on July 13 have tested positive for the virus. A total of 2618 tests have been given.

Both players who have tested for the virus are now in self-quarantine and following the proper protocols.

The NHL will continue to release weekly updates on COVID-19 testing but will not release the identities of players or teams.

Nine Bruins players (forward David Pastrnak, defenseman Torey Krug, center David Krecji, goaltender Tuukka Rask, center Charlie Coyle, forward Ondrej Kase, center Sean Kuraly, forward Nick Ritchie, and forward Chris Wagner) were all “unfit to play” this week.

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Caleb Jones confirmed earlier this week that he had tested positive for COVID-19 but was asymptomatic.

Teams will travel to Toronto (Eastern Conference hub city) and Edmonton (Western Conference hub city) on Sunday for the final week of training camp and play an exhibition game sometime between Tuesday, July 28 and Thursday, July 30 before the Stanley Cup Qualifiers begin on August 1.
