A HUGE NoVa Caps’ Congratulations to: USA Warriors’ President, Lori Mezzanotte

This season NoVa Caps selected to support the USA Warriors as our primary charity. The USA Warriors is a non-profit organization headquartered in the DMV. The program educates, trains, motivates, and encourages the formation of “USA Warrior Hockey Programs” locally and nationally while encouraging individuals who have physical disabilities incurred during service to the United States to participate in the sport of ice hockey in an environment that is adapted to the level of their ability. The USA Warriors Ice Hockey Program, Inc. is staffed by volunteers, on-ice and off-ice mentors and directors who do not receive any compensation, stipend or other remuneration for their time. Our primary point of contact with the Warriors is their President, Lori Mezzanotte.

We were recently made aware that Lori was named as this year’s Washington Capitals’ Community Leader! And this award and achievement was no surprise to us! Lori has been a delight to work with and her dedication to the Warriors was quickly realized by us. We are thrilled that through her Community Leader recognition, many of you will also become familiar with her and her unwavering support and dedication to the Warriors in addition to her love of hockey and her passion of the Washington Capitals and the entire Capitals’ organization.

Please take just a few minutes to watch the short video provided below which was shared in a recent tweet from the Washington Capitals:

The part of the video that resonated the most to us were these heartfelt statements made by Lori:

“…it’s about healing, we’ve built a family in our organization….it means a lot to me – actually, it means everything to me…but I’m really not somebody who really needs that pat on the back….and so I tend to really shy away from these types of things…I get back more than I will ever give to them…this is just so very special”.

Lori Mezzanotte, USA Warriors, President

Lori, we realize that you don’t need a pat on the back – but we want to recognize and share your Washington Capitals Community Leader Award with all of the NoVa Caps’ followers! You and the USA Warriors Ice Hockey Teams remind all of us of just how special Caps Nation is. For all that you do, thank you – from the bottoms of our hearts.

It has been an honor and a pleasure to support the Warriors all season long! We are looking forward to wrapping up the season with one final fundraising event tomorrow evening (April 19th) at our Watch Party where we’ll be cheering on the Washington Capitals as they look to even up the series against Columbus!

If you are unable to attend the Watch Party, please consider making a tax deductible contribution to the Warriors via our Go Fund Me campaign, by clicking on the image below.
