Each week during the 2017 offseason, NoVa Caps reporter Michael Marzzacco will take a trip down memory lane and share with you what he believes were the top moments from this past season. Today we look back at the game that saw Nicklas Backstrom notch his 500th assist.
This moment came on the first Saturday of 2017 in which the Capitals won 1-0 in Ottawa. While the Capitals scored just one goal, the one assist for that goal was the 500th in Backstrom’s career.
The goal came just 1:38 into the contest as Backstrom came down the ice and fed Oshie for the quick one-timer.

Love that Ovi immediately knew the significance of the play.
One of these playmakers and players in the league and still no one but DC fans, media, and analysts recognizes that. It’s criminal.
