Capitals Daily Report: Catching Stars

After a day off on Sunday, the Capitals held a morning skate Monday morning ahead of their matchup with the Stars. The Capitals look to defeat Dallas at Verizon Center for the first time since 2006. Puck drop is at 7:30 on CSN.

MORNING SKATE
Coming off an overtime win over the Flyers, there were no line changes in the Capitals practice lines. Everything was status quo.

Braden Holtby was in the starter’s net in practice, and thus he will get the start tonight in goal. Holtby has beaten 29 other teams in his career, but not the Stars (0-3-0). The Capitals also haven’t beaten the Stars on home ice since November, 2006, back when the Caps’ jerseys were black instead of red. The Capitals got their first win in Dallas since Oct. 2008 back in January.

Nate Schmidt, Taylor Chorney, and Paul Carey took the scratches’ skate. Trotz mentioned after practice that Andre Burakovsky, who hurt his hand last month, will probably head with the team out west so he can practice and participate in morning skates.
