All present and accounted for. Alex Ovechkin returned to Kettler Tuesday morning. Also joining in on the action at Kettler was Chris Bourque  and Derek Roy, who was signed to a camp tryout this past weekend. The Capitals have the day off tomorrow, as they prepare for the opening of training camp on Thursday.  Alex Ovechkin left the ice midway through today’s scrimmage. He was fine, just ended scrimmage time early. Ovechkin is expected to address the media on Friday.

As per Alex Prewitt, a second group of skaters took the ice after the veterans.  Second group included: Ness, Collins, Stanton, Camper, Fyten, Shea, Mitchell, Carrick, Carey, Leah, Burgdoerfer, Grubauer, Peters, Ellis.

News and Notes
As per Alex Prewitt, “Derek Roy, here on a PTO, said he and the Caps had talked all summer. Had several PTO offers on the table, liked the chance to win here.”

AlsoBackstrom said he wasn’t sure if he’d make an exhibition game. (Trotz didn’t expect so.) Progressing slowly, hip strength the biggest issue.

The Washington Capitals will be holding an open house tonight, Tuesday, September 15th, for those that may be interested in looking at season tickets.  The ice surface continues to be installed at Verizon Center today.

Tuesday afternoon it was announced that Washington Post beat reporter Alex Prewitt will be leaving his Capitals’ beat for a new job with Sports Illustrated.  We at NoVa Caps wish Alex all the best with his new endeavor.

Training Camp Day
The Washington Capitals will host Caps Training Camp Day on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. More info here.
