Washington Capitals prospect Ryan Chesley has been named one of four alternate captains for the USA World Junior hockey squad that will be competing in the WJC next week. Chesley joins Ryan Leonard as the second Capitals prospect that will be competing in the tournament.
The sophomore blueliner joins Lane Hutson, Cutter Gauthier and Gavin Brindley as alternate captains. Rutger McGoarty will serve as the team’s captain. Chesley has six points (two goals, four assists) in 18 games with the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

The World Junior championship kicks off on Tuesday, Dec. 26 in Sweden.
