Clay Stevenson Records League-Leading 4th Shutout, Hendrix Lapierre Scores, Ethen Frank Records A Goal And Three Assists; Bears Trounce Monsters, 6-0

The Hershey Bears trounced the Cleveland Monsters, 6-0 Saturday night at Giant Center in Hershey. Pierrick Dube scored twice and Hendrix Lapierre, Ethen Frank, Alex Limoges and Mike Sgarbossa each added goals in the victory. Clay Stevenson stopped all 21 shots he faced for his league-leading fourth shutout of the season. The win improves the Bears record to 19-5-0 on the season.

FIRST PERIOD

The Bears opened the scoring on Alex Limoges sixth goal of the season on the power play at 5:39. Ethen Frank (8) and Joe Snively (13) had the helpers.

The Bears made it 2-0 halfway through the opening stanza on Ethen Frank‘s 12th goal of the season, also on the power play at 9:58. Joe Snively (14) and Mike Vecchione (6) had the assists.

The Bears held the 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Shots for the period were tied 7-7. Hershey was 2 for 2 and Cleveland 0 for 1 on the power play in the first 20 minutes.


SECOND PERIOD

The Bears stretched their lead to 3-0 with another power play goal early in the middle frame. Pierrick Dubé (11) notched the Bears third tally just 2:58 into the middle frame. Mike Sgarbossa (19) and Ethen Frank (9) had the helpers.

The Bears made it 4-0 with their first five-on-five goal of the night by Mike Sgarbossa (5) at 7:37. Ethen Frank (10) had the lone assist.

The Bears made it 5-0 on Pierrick Dubé (12) second goal of the game. Hardy Häman Aktell (3) had the lone assist.

The Bears held the 5-0 lead into the second intermission. Hershey led in shots, 9-5. Cleveland was 0 for 2 and Hershey 3 for 5 on the power play after two periods.

Mike Vecchione sustained an upper-body injury in the second period and was out for the remainder of the game.


THIRD PERIOD

The Bears made it 6-0 on Hendrix Lapierre‘s first goal of the season for the Bears. Lapierre was re-assigned to Hershey following the Capitals morning skate earlier in the day.

That was it for this one, with the Bears winning 6-0.

Shots finished 33-21 in favor of Hershey. Stevenson stopped all 21 shots he faced in the win for the Bears to earn his fifth consecutive victory and ninth of the season to lead all rookie netminders; Hershey went 3-for-6 on the power play; the Monsters went 0-for-5 with the man advantage.
