Martin Fehervary Practices In Regular Jersey, Evgeny Kuznetsov Out, Leni Oshie Skates: Capitals Thanksgiving Practice News And Notes

ARLINGTON, Va. —
The vibes were high on Thursday at MedStar Capitals Iceplex, and why wouldn’t they be? The Washington Capitals are on a five-game win streak and are playing outstanding hockey. But before the players could start thinking about their Thanksgiving plans, they held a brief practice. Here is what you need to know.

Martin Fehervary was in a normal jersey for the second consecutive practice. Spencer Carbery did not meet with the media but Fehervary is likely to join the Caps on their western road trip.

Evgeny Kuznetsov was once again on the ice for practice. His status for Friday’s 3 p.m. showdown with the Edmonton Oilers is unclear.

Practice was mainly filled with plays up the rush. Guys were smiling and hooting and hollering whenever someone scored a goal. Alex Alexeyev went bar down on Darcy Kuemper and John Carlson belted a large “WOOOO!”

Assistant coach Mitch Love even took some reps during the drills.

After practice, T.J. Oshie skated with his daughter Leni. She was watching practice and players were gesturing towards her. Alex Ovechkin was smiling towards her and blowing kisses towards her.

Also, Nic Dowd is not a big turkey guy. He said that he has to watch what he eats because of the game tomorrow.

Defensive Pairings Performance

The following table lists each and every defensive pairing combination deployed by the Capitals so far this season. It includes Time on ice (TOI), Offensive zone shift starts percentage (OZS%) and expected goals for percentage (xGF%) at 5v5 – 16 games.
