Washington Capitals first round draft pick Ivan Miroshnichenko continues his triumphant return to the game of hockey. On Saturday afternoon he earned a goal and an assist in Omsk Yastreb’s 5-2 victory over Sputnik Almetievsk. This is his third consecutive game where he has scored a goal.

At 17:33 into the second period, with the score at 2-2, Miroshnichenko made an amazing pass to Vyacheslav Malov who scored his eighth goal of the season.

The pass was impressive enough that the broadcast showed it from multiple angles.

This goal put Omsk Yastreb ahead 3-2 and ultimately turned out to be the game-winning goal.

Miroshnichenko then scored a power-play goal of his own at 10:45 of the third period. This goal put the team ahead 4-2.

Omsk Yastreb went on to win 5-2 for their second win in a back-to-back set of games against Sputnik Almetievsk in Almetievsk, Tartanstan.

Since returning to action, Miroshnichenko has played in four games, scored three goals, and recorded two assists. He has averaged more than one point per game and is currently on a three-game goal-scoring streak. He is En Fuego.

The Capitals selected Miroshnichenko with the 20th overall selection in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft back on July 7th of this year.

2022 has been an extremely challenging year for the Capitals’ first-round draft pick Ivan Miroshnichenko. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma back in January but was cleared by doctors to return to skating and workouts after successfully completing a course of treatment in Germany in June.

Miroshnichenko has worked out with Avangard Omsk’s VHL (Junior) club since October 21 and was cleared to return to game action on November 6.
