Lucas Johansen, the Washington Capitals’ first round draft pick in 2016, and big brother Ryan (of the Nashville Predators) spent their Friday night raising money for local firefighters and the Red Cross.

The fundraising event was held at the Parkside Brewery in the Johansen’s hometown of Port Moody, British, Columbia – a suburb of Vancouver. The event raised a much-needed $2,000 for Port Moody Fire and Rescue and the Canadian Red Cross, who have been busy this summer battling huge wild fires in southwest Canada.

Brenden Dillon, a defenseman for the San Jose Sharks was also in attendance at Friday night’s fundraiser.

This year’s wildfire season has become British Columbia’s worst in six decades, and a provincial spokesman says the action is far from over.

Kevin Skrepnek of the B.C. Wildfire Service said Thursday that 4,910 square kilometres of forest, bush and grassland have been torched, making 2017 the second worst in recorded history in terms of land destroyed.

The Johansen’s took to social media on Thursday to send out the invite.
