A hugely popular presence on Washington's roster is making a trip out to Gaithersburg.
This Friday evening, the winger will mingle with supporters as the retailer marks its grand opening. Once just a Dick's Sporting Goods outlet, the shop at Rio Lakefront recently wrapped a renovation that ran to $10.2 million, blending conventional sporting-goods shopping with interactive, hands-on athletic offerings. Among the fresh additions: golf simulators, an indoor running track, and a wall for rock climbing.

A trio of athletes, all told, are penciled in to appear across the weekend. On Thursday, Lauren Betts, a center with the Mystics, helped snip the ceremonial ribbon; come Saturday, Sonny Styles, who lines up at linebacker for the Commanders, drops in, with his slot stretching from midday until half past one in the afternoon.
Via a message posted to his Instagram Story, Wilson let followers know he'd be at the shop that evening across a 90-minute window starting at 6 p.m., urging people to come by, hang out, and look over the revamped space; he tagged both retail accounts and slapped on a partner hashtag.
Per that same note, you'll need a wristband to greet him, and anything carried in from outside won't be autographed. The address to note is 2 Grand Corner Ave., Gaithersburg, Maryland, 20878.

At 32 now, Wilson has wrapped up a pair of consecutive 30-goal years in DC. Widely tabbed as the player likely to inherit the captaincy whenever Ovechkin steps away, he picked up Olympic silver in a Canada uniform this past February. He is a two-time All-Star, and he also did his part during Washington's title run back in 2018.
