Ethen Frank And Alex Limoges Score In Bears 2-1 Win Over Wild; Clay Stevenson Strong In Goal Again

The Hershey Bears downed the Iowa Wild, 2-1 Sunday afternoon at the Giant Center in Hershey. Ethen Frank scored his eighth goal of the season, Alex Limoges added his fifth tally of the season and Clay Stevenson stopped 26 of 27 shots he faced in the victory. The win improves the Bears record to 15-4-0 on the season.

Clay Stevenson got the start between the pipes for the Bears. Zane McIntyre got the start in goal for the visiting Wild. The forward lines and defensive pairs for the Bears:

FIRST PERIOD

The Bears opened the scoring with a power play tally from Ethen Frank (8) at 9:47 of the first frame. Chase Priskie (9) and Mike Sgarbossa (15) had the helpers. It was Frank’s 5th power play goal of the season.

The Bears quickly made it 2-0 with another power play goal, this time from Alex Limoges (5) at 13:31. Mike Sgarbossa (16) and Ethen Frank (7) had the assists.

The Bears held the 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Hershey led in shots 10-3. The Bears were 2 for 2 and the Wild 0 for 1 on the power play in the first 20 minutes.


SECOND PERIOD

The Wild closed the gap to 2-1 with a power play tally of their own from Jake Lucchini (7) at 10:31. Nic Petan (13) and Dakota Mermis (1) had the assists.

And that was it for the scoring in the middle frame. Iowa outshot Hershey 19-5 in the second period. The Bears were 2 for 4 and the Wild 1 for 3 on the power play after 40 minutes of play.


THIRD PERIOD

The Wild had a power play and pulled their goaltender with 2:25 remaining in regulation for a 6-4 man-advantage., but the Bears were able to shut the door for the 2-1 win.
