ARLINGTON, Va. — The Washington Capitals practiced for the first time in just under a week Monday morning at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. Following their back-to-back sweep, against the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders respectively, the Caps are dealing with a number of injuries. Here is what you need to know from Monday’s practice.
T.J. Oshie did not participate in practice on Monday. The Capitals said that he took a maintenance day. Matthew Phillips replaced his spot on the second line with Sonny Milano and Evgeny Kuznetsov. It is unclear whether he will suit up for Tuesday’s matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Max Pacioretty was with Capitals strength and conditioning coach Zack Leddon ahead of practice. He was skating in a non-contact jersey doing some light skating work and skill work. Pacioretty is still recovering from a torn Achilles’ Tendon.

Martin Fehervary did not practice and will not suit up on Tuesday against Vegas according to Spencer Carbery. Fehervary is currently on IR with a lower-body injury.
Anthony Mantha skated in a non-contact jersey prior to practice. He was working with Capitals skills coach Kenny McCudden. Mantha took a puck to the face against the Florida Panthers and was placed on IR. He did not participate in the actual practice.
A sight for sore eyes. Anthony Mantha is on the ice in a non contact jersey after taking a puck to the face against Florida. He is currently on IR. Meanwhile, Darcy Kuemper is on the ice as well. #ALLCAPS pic.twitter.com/Cr2naiUY4i

Joel Edmundson and Trevor van Riemsdyk both practiced as well in non-contact jerseys. Carbery said that Edmundson will need to get a few more skates in before he suits up for a game. Van Riemsdyk is still day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
Darcy Kuemper’s status for tomorrow is unclear but he was a full participant in practice. Kuemper was “nicked up” which is why he did not start against New Jersey or New York.
The Capitals take on the Golden Knights at 7 p.m. at Capital One Arena on Tuesday.

Darcy can stay out of the line up.
Agree and would be most helpful if he either went on LTIR or was traded for picks!
Edmonton might want Kuemper, but we’d have to take salary back. Not sure if there’s anybody on there that I’d want.
Caps blocked 32 shots in front of Shep…they don’t do that for Darcy
We sure don’t have a lot of games right now which I guess is a good thing. We won’t see any of the IR/LTIR guys on Tuesday. Maybe some folks back for Saturday game (Martha/TVR/Keumper). Then Wednesday and Friday Thanksgiving games, we’ll hopefully have many of those folks back (Edmundson, Fever).
Keep using Lindgren and Shephard!!!
I’m surprised Mantha isn’t milking it longer. That seems to be his M.O. We will see.
Mantha was playing great…he wants back out there.
