Capitals Prospect Joaquim Lemay Named NCHC Defenseman Of The Week

Washington Capitals prospect Jo Lemay was named the NCHC Defenseman of the Week, for week two of the college hockey season.

Lemay, who was drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL draft, had three points in Omaha’s sweep over the Niagara Purple Eagles. He had two points (one goal, one assist) in Game 1 and Omaha came away with a dominating 8-1 win. He also had two shots on goal and five shot attempts.

The sophomore remained hot by scoring another power-play goal mid-way through the third period. His tally was the game-winner and it was another weird bounce that ended up getting past the Niagara netminder.

Lemay and the Mavericks will have this weekend off and will return to action on Oct. 27 for their second series of an eight-game homestand against the No. 13 Ohio State Buckeyes.
