The Washington Capitals had an optional morning skate today ahead of their second exhibition game against the Detroit Red Wings. More regulars will be in the lineup tonight after we saw more prospects in Sunday’s affair against the Buffalo Sabres.
Here are tonight’s lines courtesy of Bailey Johnson from The Washington Post.
Alex Ovechkin – Nicklas Backstrom – Ivan Miroshnichenko
Connor McMichael – Evgeny Kuznetsov – Tom Wilson

Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Ivan Miroshnichenko, Pierrick Dube and Andrew Cristall appeared to be the only ones on the ice for the Group A skate.

The Red Wings also announced their lineup. Former Capitals forward Daniel Sprong will be making an appearance. Sprong was traded to the Seattle Kraken in the 2021-22 season in exchange for Marcus Johansson, and was signed to a one-year, $2 million contract with Detroit over the offseason.
The game begins at 7 p.m., at Capital One Arena.

Looking forward to a Fun One tonight
Sprong is a gamer and an attitude. Glad he’s in Camp for DET
Miro is on the scene! So is the four-man Food Fight for the open defensemen spots on the Caps roster. Authentic Backup Goalie “controversy”
Let’s Go Caps!!
Looking forward to watching the third line!!
So McMichael is on LW and Backstrom (who we are pretending is okay) on 1st line still. Miro gets a chance and is placed on a line with a handicapped centre.
It will be a crime if Spencer lets this game go by without giving the Ovie, Kuzy, Miro line a fair shake….I guess we have to patronize Backstrom’s delusions still though.
Nice call
I do like the fact that Carlson has made himself useful and is mentoring Sandin. Backstrom should barrow that line.
That Ovie action in front of the net wow!!!
