Joel Edmundson Out 4-6 Weeks With Fractured Hand

The Washington Capitals provided an update on injured defenseman Joel Edmundson Wednesday morning. He will miss 4-6 weeks following a procedure to repair a fractured hand.

Edmundson suffered an upper-body injury during a scrimmage Sunday and hadn’t practiced with the team since the injury. He has had a history of low-back issues and sustained an upper-body in January with the Montreal Canadiens that forced him to miss 11 games.

Edmundson, who was an alternate captain last season, earned two goals, 13 points, a -29 rating, 42.94% five-on-five Corsi-for percentage, 41.57% five-on-five expected goals-for percentage, and 40.59% five-on-five scoring chances-for percentage in 61 games. He averaged 19:34 per game (fourth among Montreal blueliners), including 3:19 per game on the penalty kill (first).

let’s hope Alexeyev earns his spot and when/if Edmundson comes back , then HCSC has a decision to make on someone else…..

It’s all GMBM’s fault!! Fire him now! Get a new GM! What a maroon!

OK, got THAT nonsense out my system. We hope successful healing to both Edmundson and Pacioretty. Maybe they both return about the same time, and it will be like an early-season trade upgrade

Hate seeing anyone get hurt however this could be a blessing is disguise as now AA, Johansen or maybe another younger player to step up and grab this spot and get some playing time. Tired of hearing about the talent that we are suppose to have in Hershey, show me what we have, good or bad, and then lets move on at least knowing that we have or don’t have NHL players in Hershey.

It’s another freak injury (not a chronic injury). Assume it was from a puck.

And Carbery is going to be talked to about his comment about “this not being good” because 4-6 weeks right now is a blink. He’ll be back before Patches.

Good leader in the room as someone who wore an A. Gets dirty. We need him and Alexyev (and Iorio, Johanson, McIlrath, etc). Need 8-10 dee through a season.

So the Caps D has 4-6 weeks of an upgrade. Do your thang Alexeyev!!!! You can out play the crippled castle of glass that is Edmundson.

I imagine Mantha will get injured pretty quick to avoid accountability

I totally expect Max Pac, Oshie and Backstrom to be re-injured prior to TDL
